Newbury Watch

Since 1982, Neighbourhood Watch schemes have been developing around the country to prevent crime by improving security, increasing vigilance, creating and maintaining a caring community, and reducing opportunities for crime by increasing prevention awareness. The schemes additionally assist the police by promoting effective communication, and the prompt reporting of suspicious and criminal activity.

Established in December 2018 by local residents, with the ethos and safeguards of an official Neighbourhood Watch scheme in partnership with the local police force, the Newbury Watch scheme exclusively covers the Newbury Road estate in Newark - promoting a sense of security and community spirit, particularly amongst the more vulnerable members of the community.
